Ibex (vehicle). vehicle

An Ibex is a specialist off-road vehicle, ready-built or supplied as a kit to build with donor parts from a Land Rover Defender on a spaceframe chassis. The Ibex can be delivered with different wheel bases and body type.

Among other features, the Ibex can be built or delivered with Foer’s patented Vector winching system. A winch is mounted centrally in the vehicle, and the cable runs to fairleads front and rear. This allows the vehicle to pull in either direction, or pull out the cable and secure it both ways, so that the vehicle can pull along the cable like a cable car. [1]

Ibex are manufactured in the UK by Foers Engineering Ltd.

Serviceability failure. excessive

In engineering, a serviceability failure occurs when a structure does not collapse, but rather fails to meet the required specifications. For example, severe wind may cause an excess of vibration at a pedestrian bridge making it impossible to cross it safely or comfortably. Similar excessive vibrations can be caused by pedestrians due to their walking, running, or jumping. Similarly, storm conditions may cause water to spill over a coastal structure, so that boats are not safe behind the structure.

Examples of serviceability failures include:
a) Deformations
b) Vibration
c) Cracking
d) Leakages

Ectopia. occurs

In medicine an ectopia is a displacement or malposition of an organ of the body. Most ectopias are congenital but some may happen later in life.

  • Ectopia lentis is the displacement of the crystalline lens of the eye
  • Ectopia cordis is the displacement of the heart outside the body during fetal development
  • Renal ectopia occurs when both kidneys occur on the same side of the body
  • Ectopic pregnancy occurs when the fertilized egg implants anywhere other than the uterine wall
  • Cardiac ectopy occurs when electrical signals for a heartbeat originate in the wrong part of the heart muscle.

In molecular biology a gene is ectopically expressed when it is expressed in an abnormal place.

Vehicle dynamics. single-vehicle

Vehicle dynamics refers to the dynamics of vehicles, here assumed to be ground vehicles.

For two-wheeled vehicles see Bicycle and motorcycle dynamics.
For the dynamics of air vehicles see Aerodynamics.

Vehicle dynamics is a part of engineering primarily based on classical mechanics but it may also involve chemistry, solid state physics, electrical engineering, communications, psychology etc.

Dodge EPIC. vehicle

The Dodge EPIC was a concept car created by Chrysler Corporation under its brand Dodge. The EPIC was first shown at the 1992 North American International Auto Show. EPIC stands for Electric Power Inter-urban Commuter. It was the first hybrid minivan.

Engine and Design

The EPIC uses an I4 engine which is powered by an emission-free powertrain. The powertrain features nickel iron batteries that can give up to 120 miles on only one charge. The EPIC uses a four-gear automatic transmission. The design was at the time more futuristic. Unlike any other minivan, the EPIC had the modern oval-shaped body, this style was inspiration for the design of the third generation of the Chrysler Minivans. This vehicle was also one of the first signs of the hybrid vehicles.

This vehicle has been seen in the 1994 NBC TV series “Viper”

Erdős cardinal. the name implies

In mathematics, an Erdős cardinal (named after Paul Erdős) is a certain kind of large cardinal number.

Formally, a cardinal number κ which is the least cardinal such that for every function f: κ < ω → {0, 1} there is a set of order type α that is homogeneous for f, is called an α-Erdős cardinal.

Existence of zero sharp implies that the constructible universe L satisfies “for every countable ordinal α, there is an α-Erdős cardinal”. In fact, for every indiscernible κ, Lκ satisfies “for every ordinal α, there is an α-Erdős cardinal in Coll(ω, α) (the generic collapse to make α countable)”.

However, existence of an ω1-Erdős cardinal implies existence of zero sharp. If f is the satisfaction relation for L (using ordinal parameters), then existence of zero sharp is equivalent to there being an ω1-Erdős ordinal with respect to f.

If κ is α-Erdős, then it is α-Erdős in every transitive model satisfying “α is countable”.

Single-vehicle accident. accident

A single vehicle collision or single-vehicle accident is, as the name implies, a type of road traffic accident in which only one vehicle is involved.

The normal inference is that the cause is operator error. The dominant cause of single-vehicle accidents is excessive speed. Some roads are particularly notorious for these crashes, leading to them being termed “dangerous roads”. Some vehicles have unpredictable car handling characteristics and/or defects, which can increase the potential for a single-vehicle accident.

Another common cause is that the vehicle may leave the roadway. This can be particularly dangerous, since the driver most likely does not expect it and the vehicle was most likely not made to do it, especially at speed. This leaves very little time to react.

The term single-vehicle collision is not generally used unless the rider/driver and passengers of the vehicle are the only ones injured: although in some cases innocent bystanders (e.g. pedestrians or cyclists) can also be hurt or killed, the term single-vehicle accident is unlikely to be used to describe such collisions.

Future Combat Systems Recovery and Maintenance Vehicle. vehicle

Overview

Part of the proposed Future Combat Systems This is one of the family of Manned Gound Vehicle MGV proposed for a lighter and more transportable system in which every member of the family of ground, air, manned, and robotic, systems all report to a network system of systems to allow network centric warfare. It is a system that proposes much but is in trouble with burgoning costs and many questions about the vehicles light weight and vulernability to anti-armor weapons systems.

Future Combat Systems Recovery and Maintenance Vehicle

The Future Combat Systems Recovery and Maintenance Vehicle (FRMV) is the recovery and maintenance system for employment within both the Unit of Action (UA) and Unit of Employment (UE) and contributes to sustaining and generating combat power to the Future Force structure. Each Unit of Action (UA) will have a small number of 2-3 man Combat Repair Teams within the organic Forward Support Battalion (FSB) to perform field maintenance requirements beyond the capabilities of the crew chief/crew, more in-depth Battle Damage Assessment Repair (BDAR), and limited recovery operations. The Recovery and Maintenance Vehicle (FRMV) is designed to hold a crew of three with additional space for three additional recovered crew. The Recovery and Maintenance Vehicle (FRMV) has a Close Combat Support Weapon (CCSW) and Mk-19mm grenade launcher.

Seamless integration. implies a

Seamless integration is an extremely popular marketing term used in various promotional materials to describe multiple tightly integrated products or services. This does not literally have to be “seamless” but is often marketed as such anyway. It is most often used by the software and technology companies but can also be used by most other industries. In reality this often implies vendor lock-in and proprietary protocols.

Electoral district of Colton. may leave the

Colton is an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia. It is a 14.2km² urban electorate on Adelaide’s western beaches, taking in the suburbs of Fulham, Fulham Gardens, Grange, Henley Beach, Henley Beach South, Kidman Park as well as parts of Findon, Lockleys and Seaton.

Colton was created in the 1991 electoral distribution as a nominal seat for the Australian Labor Party, replacing the abolished Henley. It was first contested at the 1993 state election, where it was won in a large swing to the Liberal Party by former Adelaide City Council Lord Mayor Steve Condous, recording 57.7% of the two-party preferred vote. This was reduced in 1997 to 51%, and upon Condou’s retirement, it was captured by Paul Caica for the ALP with a 5.6% swing.

The electoral district is named after Mary Colton, who arrived in Adelaide in 1839 and worked for the welfare of women and children. She was the President of the Women’s Suffrage League, and lived to see the introduction of equal voting rights for women in 1894.

Leroy Bach. is involved.

LeRoy Bach was involved in the recording of Wilco’s 1999 album Summerteeth, and was named an official member of the group before the release of 2002’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. In January of 2004, Wilco announced on the band’s web site that Bach was leaving the band.

Previously Bach was involved with The Dishes, 5ive Style and leader of Uptighty, a premier Chicago funk band. He performed in “The Shaggs: Philosophy of the World” playing guitar at the Lookingglass Theatre in Chicago. He also performed in Beth Orton’s band as bass player, on her 2006 UK and US tour, promoting Comfort of Strangers.

Bach also played in a well received college town band in Champaign Urbana Illinois, named The Bowery Boys. Their only release was George Jones vs. Godzilla.

Ski school. likely does not expect

A ski school is an establishment that trains skiers. The modern version of the ski school was invented by the Austrian ski pioneer Hannes Schneider in the early 1920s when he formalized instruction methods and established these methods as teaching principles for all ski instructors at his school.

In alpine skiing in North America, many resorts have their own ski school, whereas in Europe, a resort may have many different private ski schools. All instructors are trained and certified by their national organizations (i.e. in Canada the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance), which may certify their instructors in an ‘international’ level, which is overseen by the International Ski Instructors Alliance. Despite different emphasis in each nations qualification you can expect a qualified instructor to provide an enjoyable learning process in safe conditions. Don’t hesitate to ask about the qualifications and languages spoken of the instructors in a school you are considering.

Most ski schools offer a wide range of courses to suit your interests and skill and the prices will vary depending on country and resort. Most schools will offer a choice between group and private lessons.

In general group lessons will be less expensive as you join a group of skiers of a similar standard. Expect there to be up to 8 in a group. Any more than this and you should perhaps look elsewhere. Group lessons tend to run all week and can often provide a very sociable way to learn and have fun on the slopes.

Private lessons can often be much more expensive, as you have the lesson to yourself (or shared with people you choose) but the rate of progress can often be much more rapid than in group lessons as the teaching is aimed directly at your needs. Private lessons are often offered on a per session basis of anything from 1 hour to all day.

Ski Magazine usually rates Taos Ski Valley’s ski school as the best in North America.

  • The larget ski school company in Europe is the École du Ski Français, a reputed French ski school.
